Last night I was making my Dad's Famous Spaghetti Sauce. I decided to change it up by adding Jalapenos. It turned out bomb! Okay, so that sounded totally "seventh grade," but you'd be proud too if you just realized you beat the chef at his own game! Think I won this round dad!
Dad's "Improved" Spaghetti Sauce
1 Lb. Ground Beef or Ground Turkey
1 Sml Onion (Chopped)
2-3 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
1 Green Bell Pepper (Chopped)
2 Medium sized Carrots (shredded)
1 zuchinni (shredded)
2-3 Jalapenos (finely chopped)
1 lrg jar of spaghetti sauce
Prego is preferred; however, if using Ragu, make sure to add oregano seasoning when adding in sauce because it usually does not come seasoned as Prego does.
Directions:
In a large sauce pan, add meat and cook until brown. Remove any additional grease. Add onion, garlic, bell pepper, carrots, zuchinni and jalapenos. Sautee. Add sauce and simmer for 30-45 minutes stirring occasionally. Add Salt or pepper according to desire.
In Ragu, I added 1-2 Tsp. garlic salt to bring out the garlic flavor a little more. I also added 4-5 Tbsp of Oregeno seasoning. You may add as much or as little as you like.
Serve with prepared pasta.
*Note: This sauce does well frozen. I want to say up to a year, maybe a little more. At least that’s about as long as my dad would let it stay before making another batch!

Zucchini and carrots. Huh. I'll have to try that. Especially since Jacob is at his no veggies without dip (unless it's peas) stage. Awesome! :)
This sounds yummy. I'll have to make this...and soon. I bet it does good in the freezer???
It NEVER stayed frozen that long, we would eat before it had a chance to be frozen for 6 months!! Also, sliced bacon does very well in it too. The best jar sauce to use is Prego, the flavors in it just enhances all the other stuff you put in it!!
